New mini series for Robert – “The War of the Worlds”

Such exciting news with a new mini series for Robert! He also posted a photo from the first day on the set of the series and hopefully we will get to see and read more news and photos.

Filming on the three-part drama, which is produced by ITV-owned Mammoth Screen, has started in Liverpool with Wallander’s Peter Harness adapting the classic H.G. Wells alien invasion story.

The War of the Worlds will be directed by Craig Viveiros (And Then There Were None, Rillington Place) and produced by Betsan Morris Evans (The City & The City).

The series is the first adaptation set in Edwardian England, rather than America, and follows George, played by Spall, and his partner Amy, played by Tomlinson as they attempt to defy society and start a life together against the escalating terror of an alien invasion. Graves plays George’s older brother Frederick, while Carlyle stars as Ogilvy, an astronomer and scientist

The War of the Worlds is executive produced by Damien Timmer, Preethi Mavahalli, Peter Harness, Craig Viveiros and Tommy Bulfin. ITV Studios Global Entertainment will be responsible for international distribution.

Tomlinson said she was delighted to be “taking on the martians” with Spall. “I’ve been a fan of Craig Viveiros’ work for a while, so creating this world with him at the helm is very exciting” while Spall called it a “much loved” story.

Mammoth Screen boss Timmer added, “Here we are, making the original and best alien invasion story for the BBC One audience – it doesn’t get much better than this. With a stellar cast and some very scary Martians up our sleeve we look forward to terrifying large sections of the audience soon.”

Craig Viveiros said, “H.G. Wells’ seminal novel has been adapted for the screen many times but it’s always had a contemporary, and American, setting, this is the first version to be set in London and the Home Counties during the Edwardian period. Peter’s scripts manage to honour the source material with great skill, but we aim to provide a thoroughly modern thrill ride for the audience, delivering an alien invasion story that will shock and awe audiences across the globe.”

Irvine Welsh: New Trainspotting novel will wrap up story

Irvine Welsh new book “Dead Men’s Trousers” will be the last one about the boys Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud. It will be released in March and we are yet to find out if it will become a movie 🙂

Author Irvine Welsh has said his new Trainspotting novel will be the last in the series.

The writer is to reunite Renton, Begbie, Sick Boy and Spud for a new adventure in his novel Dead Men’s Trousers, which will be published in March.

Edinburgh-born Welsh revealed it will feature the friends in their fifties and will complete the story as he didn’t want to write about them as pensioners.

A plot summary released by publishers Penguin last year revealed that one of the much-loved characters will not survive until the end of the book.

Welsh, 59, has already written four best-selling novels featuring the characters; Trainspotting, Porno, Skagboys and The Blade Artist.

Robert won’t attend the BAFTA’s

None of the T2 cast is apparently attending the BAFTA’s tomorrow, according to The Daily Record. We had been looking forward to new photos of Bobby but we can stil look forward to finding out who wins!

Read more below and we’ve cut out some of the gossip surrounding Ewan at the moment, because it’s obviously his own business.

Trainspotting stars Ewan McGregor, Robert Carlyle and Ewen Bremner have all snubbed tomorrow night’s BAFTA Scotland awards.

The T2 actors are the only nominees in the Film Actor category at the prestigious ceremony at Glasgow’s Radisson Blu Hotel.

But none will attend, and there is no sign of director Danny Boyle on the list either, even though he is nominated for the Director Fiction award and T2 is in the Feature Film category.
