Robert Carlyle

Ever since he essayed Begbie, Trainspotting’s (1996) nastiest piece of work, it was somehow inevitable that the wiry Glaswegian would end up as a Bond villain, a feat he achieved with The World Is Not Enough’s (1999) pain-impervious Renard. However, Carlyle is, to his legion of female fans, still best known for going The Full Monty (1997) as the lovable Gaz. He was awarded an OBE in 1999 New Year’s Honours list.

The exhibition can be seen from June 26-October 1, 2000, at the National Portrait Gallery in London.
